Deputy Prime Minister Silvan Shalom demanded Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to establish a negative income tax by 2011.
In a meeting of Likud Ministers held just before a Cabinet meeting, Shalom threatened to support Amir Peretz's bill to raise the minimum wage if Netanyahu did not.
Shalom claimed that doing neither meant harming society's weaker sectors continuously.
